1st grade farm

This is directed line drawing. The students agreed on the animals they wanted in their farm and we drew each one together. Then the students colored them in with crayons!

Art Club

We made these handmade papers in Art Club this morning, using recycled paper and flowers!
We used a paper making kit from a company called Paper Alice. I really can't say enough lovely things about her and her company. Her supplies work really well and they are affordable and durable.

The children blended their paper in a blender, added decorations and poured the mixture into a mold. Then we used a sponge to soak up the water from the paper. To dry and flatten the paper, we ironed it. Next week we will bind them into a sketch book!

fifth grade guitars

We looked at Picasso's guitar paintings. Students created some painted paper using heavy poster board. Next they cut out their guitar body, added details and strung them up!

make and take pumpkin lesson for first grade

We painted a little orange paint on our orange paper to give it texture and cut and pasted the face!

liquid watercolor + spray bottle = amazingly fun splatter art!!!

I bought these spray bottles from the dollar store. We will be using them today in the fourth grade paper weaving projects, but I'm sure I'll find a bunch more uses for them!

texture paintings

We used our rubber band brushes to create texture inside stencils. We learned about negative space, and how we can use negative space to make art! Students stippled tempera paint inside the stencils using their new brushes!
